Tales Of Tenacity With Artist & Educator Mike Glier

Writer's picture: AngelAngel

This is the second in the series of Lockdown interviews called Tales of Tenacy. In the audio below Mike talks about the importance of defining what success means to you, where you should seek support and how to evolve your creative career. This interview is not very long but I am sure you'll want to listen to it several times as it's full of sage advise.

Mike Glier draws and paints to explore topics of common interest. He also teaches, which he considers to be a part of his creative output. Masculinity, consumerism, and conflict were subjects for much of his early work. For the last two decades, however, he has focused on the human relationship with the environment.

Whilst on Fine Art MA at Bath Spa University, I took part in a group crit led by Mike and it was a great experience, he has a powerful way of teaching. I took so much away from that day. I also visited his open studio event which was part of the Hauser & Wirth Residency program at Bruton in Somerser. It was great to see his work up close and hear him talk in detail about his practice.
